Grant supports creation and lending of smARTboxes to support youth art literacy
The Winter Park Public Library announces a grant from the Winter Park Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Central Florida Foundation, for the creation and lending of “smARTboxes” to support art literacy among area youth.
“This charitable gift from the Winter Park Community Foundation will go far in making art literacy accessible to area families who need extra, free resources for their children,” says Sabrina Bernat, Assistant Director, Winter Park Public Library. “The grant supports our mission to make education accessible to every resident, every day.”
The grant funded the creation of art toolkits which contain a book about the life and works of artists with stories to inspire them. The smARTboxes also contain paints, pencils, paper, rulers and other art supplies so youth will have all they need to complete their own art projects based on the artists’ works.
The smARTboxes can be checked out for free by all full-service cardholders at the Winter Park Public Library. Cardholders can check out one box per card for seven days and can be renewed up to four times if no one else has the boxes reserved on a waiting list.
Residents can receive library cards at no cost by stopping into the library at 460 E. New England Avenue, Winter Park, Florida.
