MEET WPPL'S NEWEST TRUSTEES

The Winter Park Public Library Board of Trustees recently elected four new board members to each serve three-year terms beginning 2019.

BOB MCCLELLAND: Bob is a 34-year long Winter Park resident and executive with Wharton-Smith commercial construction company.  He brings to the library a depth of professional and civic leadership experience throughout the Central Florida region and will lend to the board extensive expertise in the design, construction and operations of commercial facilities. Bob, his wife Betsy and two grown children have been active library customers for decades. His favorite all time book: A Land Remembered by Patrick Smith.           

JESSICA HALLGREN KENDRICK, ESQ: Jessica is the Founding Partner at Kendrick Law Group and Champion Title & Closing, yet says her life really began when she got married and started a family.  Her business savvy and legal experience will strengthen the library board with an eye on smart policy-making. A UCF graduate and Division 1 soccer player for the Knights, Jessica is all about giving back to local community. She, her husband James and two children are committed to “keeping books alive” to ensure lifelong learning for area residents. Her latest favorite book: Girl, Go Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis.             

DANIEL S. YARBROUGH: Daniel joined the library board to help “build a space for his son and other area children to grow, to encourage continuing education for adults and to promote job skill development” through the Winter Park Public Library. Professionally, he is Chief Financial Officer of the local firm Benchmark Securities and will support the library board and staff with keen insight into finance and accounting best practices. Daniel, his wife Caitlin and son reside in the City of Winter Park. 

LAUREN ZIMMERMAN: Lauren is in the book business as the owner of Winter Park Writers Block bookstore. She joins the library board with a passion to promote the library as a resource for not just books, but for the many resources, classes and events the library provides the community. The library will look to Lauren’s knowledge of the latest literature and authors to keep library offerings fresh. Additionally, armed with an undergraduate degree in architecture and interior design, plus a law degree, Lauren adds event greater depth to the board’s professional leadership. 

The board also elected its 2019 officers including Brad Doster, President; Lawrence Lyman, Vice President; Stacey Cox, Secretary; and, Carla Hansen, Treasurer. The officers and new trustees join these current board members: Carolyn Bethel, Stacey Cox, Bradley Doster, Andrew Dubill, Elizabeth  Francetic, Trish Gallagher, Margaret Geisler, Alex Gourlay, Carla Hansen, Linda Heinl, Teresa Herrmann, Neda Khosrowzadeh.  Lawrence Lyman, Daniel McIntosh, Tom McMacken, Marina Nice, Martin Prague, Sarah Sprinkel, Pitt Warner, and Jessica Williams.
