Do you love books? Would you consider adopting some? The Winter Park Public Library is holding training for a volunteer program called Adopt-a-Shelf. Adopt-a-Shelf volunteers will choose a section in our collection to keep neat and orderly and ensure that items are in their correct places. It's a great way to learn more about library organization, discover new authors and topics, and enjoy being a library ambassador. Adopt-a-Shelf volunteers donate their time to care for one section of the library by “adopting” that section. Sections are assigned based on volunteer interest and availability.

All Adopt-a-Shelf volunteers commit to caring for their section for a minimum of one hour every two weeks; however, volunteers are welcome to spend more time if they like. Responsibilities of Adopt-a-Shelf volunteers include keeping books in numeric or alphabetical order, checking the condition of books, assuring that each book belongs to the Winter Park Public Library, and dusting or cleaning shelves as needed. Volunteers should be able to commit to a minimum of a three month "adoption period."

Ready to adopt? Please fill out this Volunteer Application and then register and attend the Adopt-a-Shelf volunteer orientation on August 18. Feel free to call Jody for more information.
