Park Avenue and (Morse) Boulevard - 1888

Park Avenue and Boulevard in 1888.

This is how Park Avenue and Boulevard (later named Morse Boulevard) looked in 1888.   If you look at the photo closely, you can see many of the first businesses in Winter Park.   Looking south from left to right are:   Ergood's store,Ladd's Hardware and Drugs, Earl Building, Pioneer Building and the Henkel Block.   Ergood's Store was built in 1882 by Oliver E. Chapman and Loring A. Chase, two of Winter Park's founders.   Ergood's also served as the town hall and the first school in Winter Park.   The next building is Ladd's Hardware and Drugs, built in 1883.   The next three buildings are the Earl Building, Pioneer Building and the Henkel Block.   If you look at the very far right hand edge of the image, you can see the horse car to the Seminole Hotel!
