Three Rollins College Buildings · 1888 This photograph of Rollins College was taken c. 1888. From left to right are: Knowles Hall, Pinehurst Cottage, and the Dining Hall. All three buildings were constructed in 1886. Knowles Hall featured a chapel, library, and recreation hall. This building burned down in 1909, but was replaced in 1910. Pinehurst Cottage is considered the first building on Rollins’ campus. It served as a dormitory for thirty boys and teachers, but it also housed the office and private rooms of the college president. Pinehurst Cottage still stands. The Dining Hall not only served as its name implies, but it also featured two practice pianos in the extra rooms. It burned in 1918.
