Winter Park Public Library History and Archives Collection Winter Park, Florida's early businesses, Miller's Hardware.

Miller's Hardware had its beginnings as a Ben Franklin 5 and 10 cent store.   Robert R. Miller opened the Ben Franklin in 1940 across the street from the Colony Theater.   In 1944 he sold the Ben Franklin store and purchased a 50 by 50 foot building on Fairbanks Avenue and started Miller's Hardware.

In 1962, after the death of Robert R. Miller, Robert(Bob)A. Miller and Cliff Canada purchased the store and operated the Miller's Hardware as partners.   Cliff sold his interest to Bob in 1984.

Currently Steve, Bob's son, operates Miller's Hardware which is Winter Park's oldest continuously operated family-owned business.
