Edna Brewer Wooley

Eda Brewer was born in 1889 in Cortland, New York, the daughter of industrialist Edward Brewer.  She lived in Florida from 1895 to 1916 and returned in 1954.  She lived with her family at The Palms, attended Rollins Academy, and graduated from Smith College.

Her passion was golf; she won the Winter Park Golf Association championship first as a teenager in 1902, as a senior citizen in 1962, and multiple times in between.  She was made a lifetime honorary member of the Association.

Eda Brewer married Fred Frisbie Woolley at the The Palms, among the blooming azaleas that her father is credited with being the first to import to Central Florida.  She died in 1972.
