Special Collections  The decorative art that graces these items makes them uniquely Winter Park Special Collections are comprised of rare, often unique materials that are housed in secure, monitored environments. They can include rare books, manuscripts and many other types of materials that libraries separate from general collections for special curatorial treatment. They are often made up of mixed formats, including prints, drawings, photographs, and graphic materials such as maps, theatrical publications, pamphlets, advertising and posters. They are distinct collections of materials relating to a particular subject, or, in our case, a geographic location . . . Winter Park. These materials are indispensable resources. They represent an important component of the library by providing great richness and variety. Finally, they are frequently the principal elements of a library's reputation and stature. When looking through our Library's Special Collections, the researcher can spot splashes of unique artwork that really give the feeling of what early Winter Park was like.
