Hurricane Frances: Labor Day Weekend
September  4-6, 2004

On Labor Day weekend, September 4 - 6, 2004, Hurricane Frances took a leisurely stroll through Winter Park.  Unlike her predecessor, Hurricane Charley, Frances was much larger and slower.  It took her a couple of days to leave her mark on our city.

The week after Frances left town, Diana Zimmerman, former Digital Imaging Specialist for the Winter Park Public Library History and Archives Department, walked along Park Avenue and other Winter Park streets to document some of the hurricane's damage.
