  American Red Cross: 
      Visit this site for quick info about preparing emergency kits, planning evacuation plans, and what to do when the hurricane
      is over.

  FEMA: 
      FEMA offers the Are You Ready? guide, online registration for disaster assistance, recovery info, and
      emergency telephone numbers.

  Florida Division of Emergency Management:
     
FloridaDisaster.org is the official web site of the Florida Department of Emergency Management. The site provides the public and
      businesses with links to information on hazards specific to Florida, wildfires, tornadoes, hurricanes, heat wave, drought, etc.
      Additionally, the site provides the public with current weather and environmental situations, as well as links to federal and
      national emergency resources.

  Hurricane Preparedness Week:  
      The National Hurricane Center devotes May 23 - 29, 2010 to preparation.  Visit the Center homepage to track storms and see
      a list of storm names. 

  National Hurricane Center:
      T
he National Weather Service, this site offers forecasts, images, and historical data.

  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration:
      This web site provides users with weather related information for the United States, Puerto Rico/U.S. Virgin Islands,
      American Samoa, and Guam. The site also contains resources on weather safety, radio communications for emer-
      gency warnings and updates, and a search feature for locating weather conditions at the city level.

  Orange County Office of Emergency Management: 
      Get local info, including damage assessment & FEMA forms, & a list of schools used for shelters.

  Orlando Sentinel: 
      Read a Hurricane Survival Guide, a list of storm names and shelters, and five hundred years of hurricane history.

Learn how to avoid injury from the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.

  Price Gouging: 
     
From Florida's Attorney General.  Includes the price gouging hotline number, FAQs, an online complaint form, more.

  Winter Park Live Oak Fund:
     
8,000 trees were damaged or destroyed due to hurricanes. This citizen's group is replacing Laurel Oak and Water Oak trees
      with "more wind-resistant and longer lifespan Live Oaks."

  American Red Cross:

  Portable Electric Generator Safety Tips: 
      Visit this site before using your generator for the first time.

  Looking for reviews of generators? Consumer Reports published a report in October 2006. City of Winter Park residents can
  read this article at home:

     1. Log into the EBSCOhost database with your library card
     2. In the first search box, type in "generators"
     3. Scroll down and highlight "Periodical"
     4. In the Magazine box, type in "Consumer Reports"
     5. Click on "search"
     6. The first result should be: "Weathering Disaster: Generators and Saws"
