more than one year old. |
We can obtain books from
any library in Florida and nationwide. This is called an
"interlibrary loan" (ILL). ILLs take about two weeks to
arrive, depending on the lending library. If we obtain it
from a nearby library, the arrival time should be less.
Items are usually checked out
for 2 - 4 weeks. Renewals:
we will contact the lending library, however not all
libraries allow renewals. You can fill out an ILL form
online,
by phone,
or by visiting WPPL's Reference Desk on the first floor. Your
account must be in good standing before you can request an ILL.
If you need the book sooner,
consider checking the catalog of the Orange County
Library System and/or Maitland
Public
Library.*

Reference books. Materials will not

I
need an article from a magazine/newspaper. |
You can find articles by searching our electronic databases.
Databases are online
collections of articles and info from popular and scholarly
journals, newspapers and other reference works.
Users must be a resident of the City of Winter Park and have a
library card. Click here
to
begin searching or
here
to learn how to use the databases.
If you are unable to locate the
full-text of the article in the databases, we can obtain the
article through an interlibrary loan. You can fill out
an ILL form
online, by phone,
or by visiting WPPL's Reference Desk on the first floor. Your
account must be in good standing before you can
request an ILL.

How
can I find out which Florida and out-of-state libraries own materials? |
We use a service called WorldCat, a catalog that provides the holdings of
all libraries worldwide. You can use a simple version of
it by
visiting here. You will be
directed to type in your zip code, etc. for exact locations.
For assistance in obtaining materials from those libraries,
refer to an earlier entry above.

* WPPL Reference Librarians are happy to search the catalog for
you to check availability of items.
