Guidelines
How often will your group meet?
Most typically meet once a
month and discuss one book at a time.
Who will lead the discussion? Decide whether it will be the
same
person or some one different each time. A moderator should be
prepared to
offer fair and balanced questions to ensure a
successful discussion.
Another format is for each member to
contribute a question at the meetings.
How will the group choose books? Allow individuals to offer
one
title to be voted on as the next selection. Some groups also
spend an entire meeting selecting books for the remainder on the
year; this allows ample time for members to procure the books.
Some ways to pick books:
- by genre (mystery, romance, western, etc.)
- award-winning books
- classics
- personal favorites
- timely topics
