 At Reference Desk Hoover’s Handbook of Private Companies Profiles of 900 major non-public companies, including in-depth histories for 200 of the largest or most influential.
 R 338.47 Int  International Directory of Company Histories Detailed narrative histories of hundreds of companies (including name changes) along with side-barred contact information, sales figures, company perspectives, key dates, and more. Cumulative index included in latest volume.

Closing figures for the last day of trading for the previous year.

On Financial Desk   Standard & Poor's Stock Market Encyclopedia;

On Financial Desk Value Line Products The Library subscribes to Small and Mid-Cap Edition, Mutual Fund Survey, Investment Survey, and Investment Survey Selection & Opinion newsletter.

In addition to reference books, you may want to search for other books and materials (videos, audiobooks, etc.) on your topic. The best way to find good sources of information is to do a subject search in our Library catalog. You can access the Library’s online catalog from the Library or home by going to our Web page (www.wppl.org), then to Search Our Catalog.  Good subject headings for this topic are big business – history; bonds; investments; securities; stocks.

You may also want to check out the collection of thousands of online books (eBooks) the Library offers, located on the Web site www.netlibrary.com. Initially, you must open an account from Library computer terminals, but you will then be able to use the account from home as well.  See a reference librarian for more details.
FINDING ARTICLES
The following sources can be used to find magazine articles dealing with your topic:

· The Readers’ Guide to Periodical Literature - Adult Reference R 050 R Search for articles on a subject within any given year.

EBSCOhost and InfoTrac OneFile - Access from the Library or at home using your library card number at www.wppl.org.

Search for full text articles on these online databases using your choice of keywords. You can limit your search to a certain year or even a certain magazine. 

The following database may be particularly helpful:
Business & Co. Resource Center - Detailed company performances, industry events & trends, management, economics and politics, broker research reports, trade publications, newspapers, journals and company directory listings with full text and images available.  

See also New York Times – Historical Online for stock quotes and/or other financial information, 1851 to 2003.  The New York Times 1985-present can be accessed via Orlando Sentinel & America’s Newspapers.
WEBSITES
Big Charts Includes quotes, news, industries, markets, historical quotes, big reports and more.
Edgar (SEC Filings and Forms) Registration statements, periodic reports, and other forms of all foreign and domestic companies.
Stocks & Bonds A stocks and bonds primer and the basics of investing.
