Spellbinders Storytelling
Learning the Timeless Art of Storytelling and Sharing it with Children

Spellbinders is a national program http://www.spellbinders.org/ dedicated to spreading the magic of oral storytelling by training volunteers to become storytellers in their communities.  It is an arts based, literacy enrichment program that addresses every aspect of literacy.

The Winter Park Public Library is the home of the Central Florida Chapter of Spellbinders. Participants complete the 8-week storyteller training and then are encouraged to volunteer and share the art of storytelling.  In partnership with Project Imagination, Spellbinders brings arts & literacy education to Orange County Public School elementary students. Children learn how to diagram and storyboard a story, and how to retell a story using their imagination.

Spellbinders training seminars are held three times per year.  For more information on becoming a Spellbinder, hosting a Spellbinder training at your organization or to register for a training, call the Lifelong Learning Institute office at 407-623-3314 or 407-623-3279.

The Winter Park Public Library graciously thanks SunTrust Foundation for their generous donation that makes the 2008-2009 Spellbinders initiative possible.  Previous funding has come from The Winter Park Health Foundation and The Dr. Phillips Foundation.
